Hodgkin’s lymphoma is one of types of lymphoma which affects a human’s lymphatic system. This disease is also called as Hodgkin’s lymphoma, lymphogranulomatosis or malignant granuloma. If one group of lymph nodes of a human organism is affected by malignant cells, then these cells can also extend to other groups of lymph nodes by blood vessels.
The reason of occurrence of Hodgkin’s lymphoma is not yet established exactly. Some researchers say about hereditary predisposition, the other ones explain the presence of Epstein-Barr virus in the organism. The first symptoms of the disease are the painful increase of lymph nodes.
The main methods of diagnostics are ultrasonic and roentgen diagnostics, computer tomography with the purpose of clarification of localization, size of affected lymph nodes and internal organs.
The treatment of lymphogranulomatosis is carried out with the help of chemotherapeutic drugs according to the scheme ABVD, which is a combination of chemotherapeutic drugs as adriamycin, bleomycin, vinblastine, dacarbazine.
At the unfavourable form of malignant granuloma the highly-dosed chemotherapy can be prescribed according to the scheme BEACOPP, which includes such drugs as bleomycin, etoposide, doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide, vincristine, procarbasine and prednisolone. On finishing of the chemotherapy course radiotherapy can be prescribed additionally.
