Treatment of cancer of mammary gland

At present there are many reasons promoting the development of cancer of mammary gland, but there is none which in 100% cases could bring to the development of the malignant formation. The main reasons can be age, hereditary background, physical traumas of mammary gland, psychical traumas, improper feeding, liver function abnormality, functional abnormality of thyroid gland and ovaries.

The treatment of cancer of mammary gland depends on the tumor type, disease stage and general state of a patient. At the surgical treatment organ-saving and reconstructive-restorative operations from the patient’s own tissues or by using endoprostheses are used.

Radiotherapy can be prescribed after the surgical operation and used for the purpose of impact on preserved cancer cells in the area of operative intervention and on areas of lymph nodes.

Chemotherapy with the cancer of mammary gland can be prescribed before and after conducting the surgical operation and is used in order to render the pernicious impact on cancer cells. As a result of this impact the decrease of the tumor size in mammary gland is achieved.

Hormonal therapy is used to tumor cells which are sensitive to hormones. This type of therapy also decreases the risk of the repeated occurrence of this disease.
